Charleston Light Opera Guild presents Kinky Boots a musical with music and lyrics by pop-icon Cyndi Lauper and book by four-time Tony winner Harvey Fierstein. It has inspired audiences around the world and is the winner of every major musical award, including The Tony, The Grammy and London’s Olivier Award.

Based on the 2005 British film by the same title, Kinky Boots is mostly inspired by true events. The musical tells the story of Charlie Price, a shoe factory owner struggling to save his family business. Charlie forms an unlikely partnership with a cabaret performer and drag queen named Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots that will continue his father’s legacy and save the business. The musical debuted on Broadway in 2013 starring Stark Sands and Billy Porter. The musical features elaborate costumes, fun dances and a heartfelt story that will have audiences dancing in the aisles.
